Chief Shilson was named Chief of Police for Frisco Police Department in November 2019. Prior to coming to Frisco, Shilson was a police officer for the College Station, Texas Police Department. Shilson holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Texas A&M. Shilson is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and the ILEA 83rd School of Police Supervision.

While at the Frisco Police Department, Shilson has held various ranks and positions, to include Patrol Corporal, Traffic/Patrol Sergeant, Patrol/Traffic/Administrative Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief over the Operations, Services, and Investigations Bureaus.

Chief Shilson is also a member of various police organizations and associations, such as, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Texas Police Chiefs Association (TPCA), North Texas Police Chiefs Association (NTPCA), and many others.
