Hospice Care

A native of Vicksburg, MS, he moved to Texas to attend Baylor University. His career has been spent entirely at community organizations focused in some way on the provision of services to the aging in the community. The past twenty years has been with hospice organizations in areas of fundraising and volunteer management. Currently, he is Director of Benevolent Services at Freedom Hospice. Through his experience both personally and professionally with hospice, he has become passionate about educating families about the benefits of hospice and dispelling some of the myths and misconceptions about hospice care so that when they are faced with end-of-life decisions about loved ones, they can make informed choices. Jon has been a member of the Southlake Rotary Club for just over 3 years and is excited and humbled to be serving as its President during the 2022-2023 year. As a Rotarian, he has enjoyed learning about the amazing work that people are doing in our community and even world-wide to help improve the lives of others. In Rotary, he has found a group of like-minded people wanting to build a better world. Jon met, Judi, his wife of 15 years on E-Harmony. They have 2 children – the four legged kind –Corgis, Winnie and Bentley. In addition to spending time with the dogs, Jon and Judi enjoy cooking, working in their back yard and travel. They are members of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Jon is a Christmas fanatic – an entire room in their house is taken up year -round by a Department 56 Dickens Village scene. Over the past 4 years, Jon has identified and portrayed his alternate persona - Santa Claus. He is even a graduate of the world’s longest running Santa Claus School, the Charles W. Howard Santa School, in Midland Michigan.

Rudman has several large land holdings in Frisco with the largest piece being acquired in 1962. Rudman has developed several notable developments in Frisco and is currently developing the Frisco Station project located on the North Dallas Tollway, north and west of the new Ford Center, built in connection with the Dallas Cowboys national headquarters.

Dr. Brenden Mesch serves as an Interim Provost at Collin College supporting the Technical Campus in Allen and the Courtyard Center in Plano. He has a passion for supporting students pursue their future career goals. More than 23 years ago he started a career in education at Collin College as an adjunct faculty member. It was in this first role with Collin that he caught the teaching bug that expanded over the years to roles in administration. Brenden returned to Collin College in 2020 as the Dean of Academic Affairs & Workforce based out of the Frisco campus but supporting district-wide programs in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business, Criminal Justice, and Media Arts. The return to Collin College followed roles at other colleges where he served as a Director, Associate Dean, Dean, and Campus President. He has made Collin County home for most of his life living in Allen, Plano, and Frisco over the years with four kids and a grandchild also staying in the area. |

Rotary Foundation

Bill Dendy LOVES Rotary. He joined Rotary in 2000 with the Rotary Club of Dallas. Bill served as District Governor in 2016-17. During that time, North Texas Rotary led our Rotary zone in membership growth. Additionally, the North Texas District was recognized as top district for public image in the paired zones. Furthermore, our District’s Rotary Foundation giving grew with overall Foundation contributions increasing by over a million dollars. Bill attributes these successes to a strong supportive team that was necessary as he was also a full-time entrepreneur and active father for his two minor children during his governor year. “Rotary should be uplifting and FUN,” says Bill, and his team hosted several fun and memorable events. Beginning with his governor’s installation presided over by RI President John Germ, our District saw hundreds in attendance at every major event, including the Foundation Celebration and the District Conference Cruise. While fun and fellowship are important, Bill reminds us that, “service is the real focus.” Most district events included an element of service, and individual Rotarians and clubs that excelled in service were recognized. Even the district conference was billed as a “Service Cruise,” with five different service projects in Cozumel and Jamaica, spearheaded by clubs already familiar with the needs of those communities. Bill’s attitude of rolling up his sleeves and getting the job done benefited the district in several key areas. Bill found a charitable partner and traveled to Africa to fulfill a ten-year district goal of providing education for girls in Malawi. The scholarship project with Orant Charities continues today. Additionally, he led groups to Cuba to provide humanitarian aid and produced complimentary PR videos for dozens of clubs to highlight their many service accomplishments. Bill continues to serve our Rotary Community. He is our 3-year District Representative for Rotary International’s Council on Legislation and our District Foundation Chairperson. Bill is a Foundation Major Donor and a member of the Paul Harris Society, White Hat Society, and Bequest Society. He was District Rotarian of the Year in 2012, and in 2020, Bill received Rotary International’s highest honor, the Service Above Self Award (only 150 worldwide per year). Professionally, Bill is an Attorney, CPA and Certified Financial Planner. For fun, Bill enjoys travel and SCUBA. He is a member of American Mensa and is an instrument rated, multi-engine private pilot. His wife, Lisa, is an attorney and committed Rotarian. |

Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce

When she was growing up, Debra Austin could not decide if she wanted to be a dancer, a teacher, or a nurse. She achieved none of those goals, but she did become a scientist and later a business coach and consultant ---go figure. Debra’s experiences have taken her from the oil patch as a geophysicist to business trainer, sales, sales management, business acquisitions and business consultant. In 2011, she founded Chaos2Results Business Coaching, a coaching company dedicated to helping owners grow their business AND have the time, money and energy to enjoy the results. Debra brings a broad range of knowledge and skills from her previous work with companies like ARCO Oil and Gas International, Nationwide Insurance, KPMG, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and the City of Garland, her MBA from Southern Methodist University, her experiences as a business owner and her recognition by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Debra is currently the Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce President. She has previously served on a multitude of boards including the: Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce, Plano Chamber of Commerce, Murphy Chamber of Commerce, Sisters Network Inc. – Dallas Affiliate, Friends of the Plano Public Library, etc. On a more personal note, Debra is a wife, mother to two awesome adult sons and a two-time cancer survivor. |

Howard L. Templin 2022-23 5810 DG Howard Templin, a 4th Dallas native, married his wonderful wife Ellen in 1990. They have three adult daughters, Nicole Templin, Barbara Templin, and The Very Reverend Claire Makins. They have 2 grandsons, Cal and James Makins. Howard has Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas, Austin. After working as an architect and capital improvements project manager for over 47 years, he retired in July 2020 from being a Senior Project Manager on the University of Texas at Dallas campus. Howard, a 4th generation Rotarian, has been a member of The Rotary Club of Dallas since 2009. He is Paul Harris Society and a Major Donor. He was president of the Rotary Club of Dallas, the 1st club in Texas, in 2017-18. Howard has served on the RCD Board of Directors, the Dallas Rotary Foundation Board, Chairman of the Membership committee, several committees, as well as participating in many of his club’s projects. He is a past District Membership Chairman, Assistant Governor, and a Lone Star PETS facilitator. |

Treasured Vessels Foundation

Kirstin is a devoted advocate for those whose voices have been silenced through trauma, exploitation, poverty, or stigma. A lifelong volunteer for a variety of organizations and ministries, her greatest accomplishments prior to working with Treasured Vessels Foundation include implementing and developing nutritional and educational programs and funding capital projects such as chapels and community centers located in rural communities within Olancho, Honduras. Kirstin has also spent five years as a middle school special education teacher and dyslexia therapist while earning two master’s degrees in education from the University of North Texas. Today, Kirstin focuses on community outreach and education designed to expose the harsh realities of domestic sex trafficking, while facilitating relationships with individuals and organizations intended to support the long-term, residential care in Treasured Vessels Foundation's safe house for survivors of sex trafficking. Being invited to speak on behalf of women who are unable to speak for themselves as they pursue a path toward freedom is a great honor for which she is truly thankful. |

DFW Airport Update

Mitzi Chollampel was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement of DFW International Airport. Mitzi is responsible for developing, implementing, and refining programs and projects that help the Airport demonstrate a visible and meaningful presence in the DFW community and aviation industry. She also directs Board and Owner City relations, the Official Board Action (OBA) process, and leads the development of the annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. Mitzi has been at the Airport for over 14 years, most recently as the Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing. Mitzi was responsible for airport marketing in both domestic and international markets. In addition to supporting sales efforts to recruit both cargo and passenger airlines, she oversaw all communications to increase inbound traffic to DFW by leading the Marketing team. As part of her role, Ms. Chollampel led eight international delegations with city and Airport leaders to further DFW’s message abroad. Prior to her role at DFW Airport, Ms. Chollampel’s unique background includes working at Procter & Gamble, the Office of the Governor in Texas under George W Bush, and Scandinavian Airlines Systems. Active in her local community, Ms. Chollampel was a board member of Fort Worth Sister Cities International and involved in the US-India Chamber of Commerce (DFW). She currently serves as the Programming chair on the AT&T Performing Arts Center Board of Directors. She is a 2017 recipient of the Dallas Business Journal Women in Business award, has been named to the 2018 Top 40 Under 40 list for Airport Business publication, and a member of Leadership Dallas 2018. Shel holds a MBA with a focus in organizational strategy from the University of Texas at Dallas, as well as a BBA in marketing from The University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Chollampel lives in Carrollton with her husband, John, who is currently Secretary of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary club, and their three children. Mitzi's father CC Theophine Chamakala, is a past president of the Rotary Club of McKinney and has been a Rotarian since 1990. He now serves as RI District 5810 Global Grant Chairman.

With more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience, Rena Padachy has spent her career specializing in office leasing in the Dallas market. Throughout her career, she has marketed and leased more than 40 office buildings ranging in class, size, and location, from trophy assets in the Dallas central business district to suburban value-add office buildings. Prior to her current role, Padachy was a Vice President at EDGE Capital Markets where she advised clients on buying and selling office assets in multiple markets and states. Padachy was also a Director at Cushman & Wakefield where she represented over 3.5 million square feet of Class A office product throughout the metroplex. She began focusing on office landlord representation at Fults Commercial, where she also helped in growing the portfolio of the newly established firm as a Senior Associate. She began her career as an Associate at Cushman & Wakefield, where she worked on a variety of assignments, including tenant representation, site selection, property disposition, strategic planning, financial analysis, and business development. Clients represented include HALL Group, RREEF, Brookwood Financial Partners, Capital Commercial, CAPSTAR, Fortis Property Group, and The Hartland-Mackie Family. Rena has completed transactions with tenants such as McKesson, Jacobs Engineering, ACE Cash Express, BMO Harris Bank, Andrews Kurth, Comstock Resources, Reata Pharmaceuticals, Hilton, HQ Global (Regus), and numerous GSA entities. Rena graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. For over 15 years, Rena has been passionately involved on the committee for Elizabeth Toon Charities, a local non-profit organization serving children in need and their families in North Texas. She has also served as a chair for the organization multiple years and was presented with the Lifetime Legacy Award in 2019. |
