Right now, around 85 million people around the world have been made homeless by natural disaster and conflict. ShelterBox is working to change this. By providing emergency shelter and tools for displaced families, we’re transforming despair into hope.

We are project partners with Rotary International, a global community of 1.2 million neighbors, friends and community leaders. Their aim is to create positive, lasting change in communities at home and all over the world.

By working together with Rotary, we are able to collaborate and combine resources to ensure that we can support more communities in desperate need of shelter.

Rotarians and Rotary groups across the world support us in a variety of ways, from raising funds to providing support on the ground during our response to a disaster. This enables us to cross boundaries and cut through red tape to reach even the most remote communities.

As a student in Post, Texas Waldrip says his coaches, along with his fourth grade teacher, inspired him to pursue a career in education.  At a towering 6’6,” Waldrip played basketball for a year after high school at Angelo State University. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, where he studied physical education and biology. After graduation, he spent 16 years as a biology teacher and basketball coach. He served as assistant principal at Seminole High School and earned his master’s degree from Sul Ross State University in 2000. In 2002, he came to Frisco ISD, where he served first as principal at Clark Middle School and then as the District’s first-ever director of secondary instruction. Waldrip opened Liberty High School as principal in 2006.

Waldrip earned his doctor of education from The University of North Texas in 2008 and in 2010 moved to central administration.  In 2014, Waldrip acepted the position of superintendent of schools in nearby Coppell ISD and returned to Frisco ISD this fall.  FISD is home for Waldrip and his wife Lisa, who have two sons who graduated from Frisco ISD schools.

Don Graves was one of 118 Marines who walked off the island out of the 338 who landed in his unit.  A 19 year old who weighed 140 pounds, they strapped a 70 pound flame thrower on his back and he landed to help the fight to Mt Suribachi.  In fact, he was just out of the camera view of famous photo of the Marines raising the flag.  This will be a stirring reminder that the freedom we enjoy carries a cost; please invite guests to hear this incredible piece of living history.
